24390158210462134Animated movies are usually associated with children’s films thanks to the legacy of Disney and Pixar. However, animation doesn’t belong only to the kids, and the 2016 DIFF Animated Shorts Block, presented by Reel FX, reminds us that fantasy and astonishing visuals can be for adults, too.

Animation can explore the vagaries of the world, which is what THE LONELIEST STOPLIGHT and TRASH CAT do.

Animation can bring to life characters that wouldn’t be as human if they were depicted in live-action, like EDMOND and PAMBO LOVES YOU accomplish.

Animation can ask bigger questions about our human condition, such as depicting anxiety in SNOWFALL or the depths of loneliness in I’M GOOD WITH PLANTS.

Animation can even take us back to the experience of being a kid, just like stories of BOB DYLAN HATES ME and DEER FLOWER.

So why don’t you catch the animated shorts block, if only so that you can look at the world through the eyes of a child once again?
