One can measure cultures and define societies by looking at their outcasts and how they host those in exile away from their homes. This is the very outlook that several films of DIFF 2016 bring to the silver screen.

DIFF 2016 has many qualities: diversity of countries and nationalities, diversity of voices, diversity of genres, and one that may not be apparent enough-a great and ample selection of female filmmakers proving that female-driven films, long and short, are neither “too niche” nor the unicorns of cinema.

The art of visual storytelling in less than 25 minutes is a distinct challenge. But for the audience member who favors short films, the challenge becomes where to see them. On its 10th anniversary, DIFF presents yet another exciting and diverse slate of short films, including several with ties to the Lone Star State.
